Job Description:

  • Mission Integration Group Engineer Provides specialized technical support to the OSL Mission Integration Group.
  • Responsibilities include independent technical assessments and engineering evaluations based on expert knowledge and analysis and review of launch vehicle and satellite vehicle systems and interfaces.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides space vehicle to launch vehicle integration, manifesting, and launch expertise
  • Support LV & SV contractor reviews to assess progress, issues, and meeting mission requirements traceability
  • Provide the NRO MD an Independent Risk Assessment of NRO launch readiness, including integrated LV/SV team performance during DoL exercises. Provides MD and SVPD a summary assessment of their teams
  • Provide insights on SV issues that may affect the LV/SV interface or LV hardware
  • Support New Entrant and other OSL program initiatives, including heritage launch vehicle fly-out missions
  • Facilitates launch collaboration activities between NASA, SMC/LE and OSL organizations
  • Generate lessons learned that can be shared across mission teams
  • Interface with key mission personnel from NRO mission partners including launch vehicle contractors, satellite contractors, AF program offices, NASA and other mission stakeholder groups
  • Maintain familiarity with the NRO strategic roadmap and updates to US space policy
  • Generates reports and presentations for launch enterprise internal and external reviews
  • Retain cognizance over all launch related studies and provide leadership with timely and relevant assessments
  • Assesses new entrant’s capabilities and processes
  • Monitor and assess fleet wide issues affecting mission assurance




Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (STEM)
  • 10 years of space launch experience
  • 5 years government acquisition experience
  • Extensive knowledge of NRO/OSL launch policy and procedures
  • Thorough understanding of satellite vehicle launch interface requirements, launch transportation and processing requirements
  • Ability to perform thorough analysis and quick issue resolution simultaneously 
  • Substantive experience providing risk assessments and risk management recommendations to program managers in support of successful mission accomplishment
  • Must communicate effectively with senior management as well as employees at all levels and demonstrate effective writing skills

  • Master’s Degree
  • 20 years of space launch experience
