National Grid IT team is currently seeking an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented leader to lead major initiatives within our Enterprise Technology team as Director of Quality Engineering. We are looking for leaders who can balance the quality and productivity of teams as well as work as a gateway to releasing great software.
As the Sr. Director of Quality Engineering, you will shape processes and teams to help the larger organization develop with less friction and increased quality. You will help define the development and delivery pipeline ensuring fast and efficient software delivery. You will work with customers to resolve issues and ensure quality throughout the development and release process. You will work in a highly collaborative environment in agile, cross-functional teams.
Develops and implements Quality Engineering vision and operating model; sets direction based on alignment to business strategy and technology opportunities
Sets technology strategy and direction for our Quality Engineering organization; partners with IT & business stakeholders and influences overall Quality Engineering strategy
Initiates and fosters relationships with business partners and executives, technology leaders, vendors, and partners; develops relationships that promote trust and increase efficiency and effectiveness
Hires and leads managers and technical leaders; coaches and counsels team members, and determines and manages staffing strategy and plan, consistent with the needs of the team
Own & Drive the quality of the IT solutions delivered as part of the business change supporting National Grid business
Lead Quality Assurance portfolio teams across all IT solutions delivery globally
Develop and implement best in class Test Environment Management operating model that has high throughput.
Develop and implement industry standard quality engineering principles - quality metrics, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Defect Removal Efficiency (DRE), integration, security, penetration, regression, and performance testing.
Define & implement a scalable enterprise automation framework to support enterprise landscape for E2E testing
Continuous testing through enterprise CI/CD platform to support both legacy as well as cloud deployments with right data and environment strategy
Lead the delivery and release processes through engineering to all customers, internal and external
Align to organization’s digital and customer experience with shift left strategy complementing speed and agility
Set clear and company aligned goals for teams and individuals and help them succeed
Automate all possible tasks and reduce QA footprint to free up resources
Strong technical communication with great presentation skills to influence senior executives
Have a solid understanding of software security testing best practices and ensuring releases meet stringent security guidelines
At least 15 years of experience working in the technology industry with 5 years in leadership role.
Thorough knowledge of Agile software delivery models (Kanban, Scrum, SAFe, DevOps, etc.)
Advanced knowledge of leadership concepts, practices and techniques, especially change management and leading culture change
Ability to foster and role model a team-oriented environment
Ability to lead technology teams in different countries (US, UK)
Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills
Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or in related field; Master's Degree preferred
Preferably worked on enterprise application landscape with products like SAP, Salesforce, Oracle Fusion, Mulesoft and custom-built applications in JAVA, C#/.Net
