The Space Systems RF and Communications Electronics department in Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems’ Hardware Engineering Center is seeking an experienced Responsible Engineering Authority for FPGA development in the dedicated Space Systems Firmware Products group.
Applying advanced technical principles and concepts to develop FPGA designs based on defined system architectures.
Presenting, explaining, and refining architectural approaches in consultation with other product stakeholders.
Assessing the impact of system architecture decisions on implementation, and recommending alternatives where appropriate.
Developing Firmware Requirements Specifications for FPGA designs.
Determining and following the course of action necessary to implement finished products based on the selected design approach.
Leading a technical group developing FPGAs through HDL-based RTL and functional design, analysis, physical realization and verification.
Integrating FPGA designs into hardware and supporting module, unit integration, test, and qualification.
Experience in UVM, digital/FPGA Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) required to ensure high-reliability designs. Maintains design documentation and design maintenance.
Minimum of 10 years of proven digital FPGA/ASIC and related hardware engineering experience for space environment.
At least 7 years of experience designing, implementing, testing, debugging, and delivering digital electronics including, but not limited to, digital units, modules, circuit cards, FPGAs, or ASICs.
At least 4 years of engineering leadership experience as Responsible Engineering Authority, team lead, or Integrated Product Team Lead of digital circuit card / module / unit. Experience in requirements allocation and generation. Experience designing high speed interfaces for memories and SERDES.
Experience designing circuit cards with large FPGAs and Processors and familiarity with circuit card assembly (CCA) and final assembly and test manufacturing processes highly desirable.
Ability to handle a dynamic environment and to coordinate actions, fast learner.
Demonstrates initiative, ability to work independently towards program goals.
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team, providing technical and schedule status to management, customers and fellow team members.
Proven customer-oriented personality. Experience presenting to and interfacing with customers (internal and external).
Active DoD Security Clearance.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
Ability to obtain SSBI.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
Experience designing embedded processors and FPGAs. Familiar with VHDL, SytemVerilog, and UVM.
Familiar with Radiation ffects and Single Event Upset Mitigation techniques.
Familiar with Factory Test Equipment Development.
Technical leadership experience and working knowledge of Earned Value Management methods are also highly desired. Patents and publications are also a plus.
BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or very close equivalent discipline and at least eight to ten years of relevant experience in electronics design (power preferred), including at least five years of design for military applications.
Master in Electrical Engineering, Physics or close equivalent discipline is a plus.
