Position Description:


This position is in support of the HHS Next Generation IT Services IT Operations contract.  This position is for a Sr Network Analyst.  The Sr Network Analyst will be involved with network requirements, design, implementation, management, operation, troubleshooting, and refresh of the customer network: Monitoring the Customer network connectivity, health, and asset; Providing day-to-day management and operation for the Customers network, Call center, data centers using multi-level communication;  Making recommendations on network enhancements for optimization based on best practices; Proactively support customer needs, proactive engaging the customer, and emphasizing increased customer satisfaction based on defined escalation process; Respond to customer requirements and ensure that customer needs are being met in a timely fashion; Providing day-to-day site support to Customers in the network, including Incident reporting and management; Troubleshooting and resolving issues from Layer 1 – Layer 7 and documenting resolution and procedures; Performing hardware and software refresh; (9) Performing upgrade and patching of network devices.


Position Responsibilities:

  • 12 years of experience in all phases of LAN/WAN/wireless LAN Life Cycle network requirements, design, test and evaluation, implementation, refresh, management/operation, and traffic analyses.
  • 12 years of experience developing and documenting high-level and detailed/low-level network architecture designs, including developing end-to-end physical (layer 1) and logical (layer 2 and Layer 3) network architecture designs.
  • Working knowledge of routing protocols, switching, and firewall technologies
  • Experience with Remedy and ServiceNow.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and resolving issues and providing proactive customer engagement via various communications ways.
  • Experience with Network management including monitoring, performance management, configuration management, asset management/inventory, etc. and with with SNMPv3/v2/v1 network management tools, security management tools, traffic analysis tools. 
  • Hands-on experience on designing and implementing DMVPN across an MPLS/BGP/VPN cloud.
  • Hands-on experience on configuring and upgrading data center infrastructure device from multiple vendors, including Cisco routers and switches to AS-IS and new build and refresh networks.
  • Install, configure, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, applications optimizations etc., including Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, and Juniper firewalls
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation relating to procedures, processes and standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend new procedures, software or other tools to enhance capabilities.
  • Perform packet capture and analysis to baseline network performance and/or troubleshoot performance issues
  • Provide troubleshooting and support for network issues, perform fixes and document the procedures
  • Self-starter with good interpersonal skills, team player, good oral and written communication, organizational skills, and good customer service.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience. Will accept an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree. 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust 
  • Experience with network management tools to include network management tools, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco DCNM, Wireshark, Remedy, ServiceNow, Solarwinds, and Cisco Prime
  • Experience with network devices such as Cisco firewalls, routers, and switches; Checkpoint firewalls; Palo Alto firewalls; and Juniper firewalls
  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure, UC Call Manager and Manager express hardware and software, Avocent Cyclades ACS 6000 series Console servers
  • Proxy Server: Semantic/BlueCoat ProxySG Server and Management
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies, VMware and Storage technologies, including vCenter 5.0/6.0, VDI VMware View Horizon 6.0
  • Protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, RIPv2, HSRP, VRF, VRRP, DMVPN v3, MPLS TE Traffic Engineering, IPSec GRE/mGRE, PIM Sparse Mode, PIM Dense Mode, PIM Bi-Directional Mode, IGMPv1/v2/v3, Spanning-tree (STP), VLANs, Port Channels, Load balancing, SPAN, NAT, ACL, vPC, VSS, MPLS/BGP L3 VPN, MPLS/BGP L2 VPN, Leased lines (T1/DS1, OC-3, DS-3/T3), L2 MPLS, BGP MPLS VPN/L3, DCI & OTV LAN Extensions, Cisco ACI, NSX, etc.
  • Authentication: TACACS+, RADIUS, NAT
  • Knowledge of VPN Configurations (e.g. IPSEC).
  • Knowledge and experience supporting firewall technologies, including IPS, Web Filtering, Application Control and HTTPS
  • F5 (LTM, GTM, and APM), Citrix NetScaler, and Brocade Load Balancer knowledge
  • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, LDAP
  • Knowledge of Spanning-tree STP, LACP, RSTP, Rapid-PSVT+, VLANs, Port Channels, Load balancing, SPAN, NAT, ACL, Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, ISE, and WAPs, Port Channels, Load balancing, SPAN, NAT, etc.
  • Experience with Solarwinds NPM, Solarwinds IPAM, Cisco Prime, Riverbed, Gigamon, Fluke, SPAN, Wireshark, NetFlow
  •  Proficient in Microsoft Office and Visio and Working knowledge of Windows and Linux
  Desired Experience/Skills/Attributes:
  • Would prefer more than 10 years of direct Network experience. 
  • Ability to configure, analyze and troubleshoot highly complex networks.
  • Proven crisis management skills, and the ability to excel under pressure.
  • Works on complex problems where analysis of situations requires in-depth evaluation of factors.
  • Layer 3 knowledge device platforms and very strong in problem solving
  • Knowledge of routing system architecture and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex routing, switching and forwarding issues.
  • Strong documentation skills-to document case management, knowledge capture, defect management and lessons learned.
  • Good verbal and writing skills communication skills because these skills are essential since the support will be provided, over the phone, through IM tolls, or any other means of IT communications.
  • Ability to recreate or reproduce customer issues in order to isolate and resolve the issue.
  • Extensive Customer Service skills and experience.
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong collaboration skills and be effective in working within a team environment. Knowledge of team work and sharing the information sharing with other team members and customers.
  • Willing to work a flexible work schedule and after hours/Weekend on-call rotation
  • Cisco CCNA certifications (Routing and Switching), CCNA Security, Cisco CCNP certifications (Routing and Switching, Security, Wireless and Data Center)
  • Checkpoint Certifications: CCSA \ CCSE
  • Palo Alto Certification: Palo Alto PCNSE
