Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a TMC Shift Supervisor to be based in Miami, FL.

The responsibilities of the MDX TMC Shift Supervisor include:

  • The MDX TMC Shift Supervisor shall have comprehensive knowledge of the MDX TMC Operator responsibilities.

  • The MDX TMC Shift Supervisor is expected to perform MDX TMC Operators tasks efficiently. They may perform the MDX TMC Operator tasks during peak times and when MDX TMC Operators are on breaks and/or sick leave.

  • MDX TMC Shift Supervisor has a comprehensive knowledge of the MDX TMC

Operator responsibilities.

  • Available for all “on?call" responsibilities (weekends and nights)

  • Ensures Shift Change Logs are correct

  • Responsible for all real-time, shift management aspects of the control room’s operation, to include supervising active incidents, personnel scheduling, monitoring and reporting (if needed) equipment functionality, maintaining active communications (as events predicate) with other agencies

  • Conduct personnel performance auditing assessments, tracking results

  • Oversight of all operator secondary position responsibilities, assuring expectations are being met and the appropriate training has been provided for the proper execution of said functions

  • Assure routine, accurate and timely processing of all control room staff timesheets

  • Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures

  • Organize and coordinate all employee training, initial and recurrent (as conditions warrant)

  • Oversee construction coordination and road ranger dispatching from the control room, assuring quality levels are being consistently met

  • Execute event-specific traffic operations plans

  • Assume the role of control room operator should depleted staffing levels dictate

  • When asked, participate in post-incident analysis

  • Maintain awareness of activities in the Control Room to assist other MDX TMC

Operators when they are in need of assistance

  • Verify receipt and accuracy of Road Ranger schedule and that the Road Ranger schedule is updated and accurate in SunGuide® Software.

  • Monitor all lane blockage/closure events to ensure that all required fields in SunGuide® Software are entered correctly, such as FHP Incident Number.

  • Set positive example for MDX TMC Operators in the Control Room by conveying professional attitude, behavior, and work ethics at all times.

  • Other projects as prescribed by AECOM and/or MDX management

Minimum Requirements

  • High School + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Two years of operations management experience or a combination of qualified work experience and education

  • Florida Driver’s License in good standing

  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; must also successfully complete Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Joint Task Force (JTF) / State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen

  • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in an office environment. Position requires frequent keyboard/mouse operations, performing repetitive fine hand movements, and sitting for long periods of time; rarely standing/walking. Position will include wearing a dispatch headset, viewing CCTV camera displays, and listening to law enforcement radio broadcast

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full range of physical mobility, visual acuity, and general good health

  • Demonstrated leadership experience

  • Radio and phone communications experience

  • Geographic familiarity with Dade County region with specific focus on the Interstate system

  • Computer proficiency: Windows environment, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

  • Scheduling flexibility
