Get a Job & Commercial Driver's License at C.R. England

CR England Veterans drivers blog.jpg

C.R. England is proud to hire Veterans as their Drivers.  Even with no CDL (Class-A Commercial Driver’s License), you can still become a C.R. England driver.

You might wonder, how can they bring me on as a driver if I don’t even have a CDL, let alone any experience?  You’re right, trucking companies often look to bring on experienced over-the-road (OTR) drivers.  They do this for a couple of reasons. First, experienced drivers already know the ropes. They can meet the requirements of the job without issue. Second, insurance companies do not look as favorably on new drivers as they do experienced drivers. It can cost companies more money to hire new drivers.

C.R. England has implemented a program that not only encourages new drivers to sign on with them, but also recruits students and helps them earn their licenses. Simply by choosing C.R. England as their employer, new drivers get the training and experience they need all in one place.

When a new, unlicensed driver applies for work with C.R. England the process starts. As long as that individual meets all of their hiring requirements and appears a good fit for the job, they will send him or her to school through their CDL partner, Premier Truck Driving Schools. A new driver can complete their CDL training in as little as 17 days.  Upon completion of their course, the driver is eligible to begin working for C.R. England right away. The new driver is teamed up with a trainer for a predetermined amount of time to allow them to gain the necessary experience and learn the ropes.

That driver commits to CR England for a period of 6 months in order to be eligible for this Zero tuition training program.  After that, he or she can choose different career paths with CR England.

CR England has made this choice to invest in new drivers because they know that new drivers are the future of the trucking industry. With the majority of drivers now over the age of 25, the industry is staring at a driver shortage that will only get more serious as each successive wave of drivers retires in the coming years. New blood is needed in the industry if they are to survive. C.R. England has every intention of not only surviving, but thriving as well.

Brent Sanger is an Army Veteran who has been with C.R. England since May 2012. Brent is currently a driver on the PODS Dedicated Fleet and for the previous two years was on the Walmart McCarran Dedicated Fleet as a driver/mentor. We asked Brent what is it he enjoyed most about driving for C.R. England, he said, “It [C.R. England] provides for my family and allows us to build a nest egg for the future. It also allows me to explore this amazing country that we live in.”  Brent stated, “It is an amazing honor being selected to represent all of the veterans that work at C.R. England. This is also a way to show thanks and gratitude to those returning home and the real heroes that have paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.”

C.R. England has a dedicated military veteran recruiting team and openings for veterans nationwide.  Apply today to start your new career!
