Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense TS/SCI with Poly security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an EMI/EMC Test Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
Design experience in EMI/EMC compliance in EMI/EMC compliance is also desirable. As a senior member of the EMI team the candidate will perform EMI/EMC testing, provide design support, and other tasks for a wide variety of tactical communications systems and ruggedized communications and computer equipment for military applications. Products range from tabletop subsystems to large complex vehicular systems.
EMI/EMC tasks include:
• Review customer requirement specifications for EMI/EMC requirements for new product proposals
• Participate in design reviews and provide detailed design guidance on filters, shielding of ventilation, gaskets, transient protection needs, cable shielding, etc.
• Provide cost effective design guidance needed for compliance with military EMI/EMC standards.
• Perform EMI testing and troubleshoot EMI problems as needed and recommend cost effective solutions with minimal design impact
• Prepare EMI test plans/procedures and reports
• May function in a project leadership role where erroneous decisions or recommendations may have long-term effects and may affect the image of the company’s technological capability
Additional desirable experience:
• Determine the need for transient protection for electromagnetic threats including HEMP, Lightning, and MIL-STD-1275.
• Use Electromagnetic modeling tools such as FEKO or HFSS in support of EMI/HEMP/Lightning design
• Recommend transient protection devices
