Supporting Women Veterans Transitioning from the Military

Military transition for women veterans can be a challenging time. As you leave the military and enter into civilian life, you are presented with significant changes, unfamiliar situations, and so many decisions—it can be overwhelming. Lack of childcare options, financial instability, and not having a strong community and support network can add to the stresses faced by women veterans as they navigate civilian life and try to find their ‘new normal’ after military service.

Military Sisterhood Initiative from Challenge America on Vimeo.

Especially now, being able to connect with other women that can speak into your life and understand what you are going through is important.

The Military Sisterhood Initiative is a great place to get started. MSI is designed by and for military women. If you’ve worn the uniform, you are part of this tribe.

Developed and managed by Challenge America, a national veteran 501(c)3 nonprofit, MSI is a safe place to connect, to share your stories, to be encouraged, and to encourage others.

By joining MSI (membership is free), women can:

  • Create a profile and connect with other military sisters near them or across the country to build one-on-one relationships.
  • Ask for help when they need it and offer support when their sisters are in need.
  • Engage in discussions and activities around different monthly topics and weekly challenges.
  • Post and find events, resources, and stories relevant to women Veteran growth and empowerment.

Women Veterans and female active duty service members can join thousands of their Sisters on MSI by visiting www.militarysisterhoodinitiative.org and clicking “Request to Join“.
